On Evolutionary Theory of Engineering

Evolutionary theory of engineering is a new research field. Both the advancement of philosophy of engineering and economic and social development call for researches on such theory. This author analyzes some fundamental concepts such as evolution, evolutionary theory, engineering and evolutionary theory of engineering, and points out that the research on evolutionary theory of engineering should include theoretical and practical researches, the former includes studies on such issues as process, orientation, dynamics, mechanism and restrictions of engineering evolution in general, whie the latter includes studies of the volution of specific engineering at industry level. Finally, the paper discusses the objectives and significance of the evolutionary research on engineering.
